Interesting Place Visited:

Recently I traveled to Malinalco, in the central Mexican state of México. This magical colonial town in a fertile agricultural valley, surrounded by steep sandstone cliffs, hosts an Aztec ruin carved out of the face of the cliff 1502, which served as an training and ritual center for elite warriors. Soon after it was built, the site was destroyed by the Spanish conquistadors, who used pieces of the pyramids to construct the town church. Enslaved indigenos were instructed to decorate the interior of the church, painted extensive murals rich with Aztec symbology that was subsequently covered up by the offended Christians. Hundreds of years later, during reconstruction work, the ancient murals were uncovered and have now been restored, bearing testament to the hybridization of cultures still represented in Mexico and throughout the Americas. Though not on the standard foreign tourist routes, Malinalco is easy to access by public transit and is popular as a weekend getaway among wealthy Mexico City residents.

I was born in Lahore, Pakistan, which is one of the most interesting places I’ve ever been to. Pakistan is a country full of kind, generous, and loving people. Although not your ordinary tourist destination, it is a mixture of exotic foods, mysterious cultures, and a compassionate and forgiving religion. I was very young when I moved to the US, but many of the reasons I became interested in primary care stemmed from my Pakistani roots.
